Carlos and Other Children's Stories

Carlos the Cartwheel was born out of, and sort of a sidestep from, the series called ‘Fred the Heavy Horse Hero’ who stories are about a family run farm in Suffolk in the late 1950’s when mechanisation was in full swing and the heavy horses became redundant almost overnight. In the Fred & Ginger stories, these two Heavy Horse Heroes were fortunate enough to be owned by Farmer Girling whose family history and farming history could be spoken of for the past 200 years. He succumbed in some ways to reducing the number of horses on his farm but made sure that he kept a few, two of which of course were Fred and Ginger.

Carlos the cartwheel became a 'pilot' story for another possible series called "Harvey's Heavy Horse World" but could have so easily have been placed in the “Fred & Ginger” stable, as to say. However the author felt that because the horses were not prominent enough in this story, that perhaps writing a about a wagon wheel might somehow have some appeal with the youngsters and the parents and grandparents etc.

So was born the character Carlos who was in a very sad state when he was stolen from the old rickety barn belonging to a very old farmer who was finding it harder and harder to keep things in good order. He was in fact stolen to order for a rich man who wanted his as a decoration of his home.

We can't tell any more without spoiling the plot so we suggest that you have a listen to the [sample] that is available for listening to on this website and also www.sapphireaudiobooks.co.uk

There are a few more stories written outside the main criteria of either of the series "Charlie the Hobby Horse Hero" and "Fred & Ginger the Heavy Horse Heroes" and these are:-

"Rap and Flappy", a story involving a pair of brave bats who take on the property developers after losing their home:

"Marmaduke and Marmalady the Two Stubborn Mules", the basis of the stories being fairly obvious in the antics of two stubborn mules.

"The Bird who didn't like heights" this, about a little Sparrow named Springy who gets on the bigger birds nerves but is saved from the clutches of next-door's cat by none other than the bully of the birds, Mr S.P. "Sparrow Hawk".

These stories have not yet been published in book form or recorded into audiobook format but are due for work in 2010.

Another series Tony is working on is called "The Hullaballoona Family" which will be for younger children (age group 4-6), although, as ever a wider age range of audience is predicted. This concerns the everyday lives of a family of hot air balloons.

We're sorry that we can't give away any more about these forthcoming stories but we must be 'ever-vigilant' with the problems of copyright theft and trade marking theft so we do hope you understand.

Tony is currently writing a story for an older audience called "The Curse of the Recording Studio" but currently there are a few alternatives for the middle and the end! Once again 2010 beckons for this completion and release.
